Biggest Medieval Wall Tour
This tour will examine the largest wall built in the Medieval Era in Carcassonne. Imagine going on the inside of the walls, witnessing the historical sights that the Knights, as well as the Queens and Kings who lived at the time, saw, and standing in the same spot where they did. It is worthwhile to see these walls, not only for the sake of the eyes but also for the sake of the mind.
When the city was a bastion of Occitan Cathars, Carcassonne became famed for its role in the Albigensian Crusades. The Papal Legate, Abbot Arnaud Amalric, with his crusading army compelled the city's residents to submit in August 1209.
